4-Bromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid is also known as 4-bromosalicylic acid, CAS number is 1666-28-0, 4-Bromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid is conventionally produced by oxidation and acidification. The general procedure is to mix the p-bromotoluene, water and potassium hydroxide, heat till boiling, add potassium permanganate in portions, reflux for 4 hours, and acidify by filtration to obtain a crude product. It is dissolved in ammonia water with dilute ethanol, filtered, neutralized with hydrochloric acid, and washed with water to obtain a finished product. Other synthetic methods mainly include chemical oxidation and indirect electrooxidation. The chemical oxidation process is expensive, has serious environmental pollution, and has relatively low production efficiency. The indirect electro-oxidation method is more complicated.
    Now there is a completely new way to synthesize4-Bromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid CAS 1666-28-0 . The method uses phenol as a raw material, firstly by adding nitric acid and sulfuric acid to form 2-nitrophenol, then adding HCI and zinc powder to synthesize 2-aminophenol, followed by heating in a water bath and adding CH3COCH to obtain 2-acetamidophenol, and then adding FeBr3 and Br2, after the reaction was cooled, CaO2 and ferroferric oxide were added, and after completion of the reaction, the target compound 4-Bromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid was obtained. The method is not only simple and easy to operate, but also has a mild reaction and no pollution, so that the product yield and purity are significantly improved.
